Picture of Susan

I think this is a wonderful picture of Susan. She is patting Blondie in my lap.

Going home

We had to get up early Friday morning to get me to the airport. We had packed our bags beforehand, so it didn't take much time to get ready. Silvia and Susan were planning to stay at Dora's until time for their plane at midnight, so we cleared the room. Most of the things I had fit into my suitcase. I had to carry the digi frame in my carry-on. Dora and Fei came to get us.

Susan and I sang most of the songs we know in the hour it took to get to LAX. The others laughed when she told me what animals to use for Old MacDonald and wanted some zoo animals. We could use the commuter lane. I was surprised by the traffic. It was heavy, but everyone left space between cars and trucks and would let you cross their lane to get off.

I really hated to say goodbye to Susan. I don't think she knew what was going on. The trip was easy except in Las Vegas when I had to change terminals and didn't know how to. The airport personnel were helpful and pleasant.

Silvia called to let us know they had arrived at home. Susan had slept most of the way, so Silvia got some sleep too. We got to talk to Susan for a minute, and she was full of news, but most of it was gibberish. I miss her.

LA

I woke up about 9, but the others were still sleeping and the room was exceedingly dark, so I showered and went down to the lobby, thinking I could get a cup of coffee. They had just cleared away all the breakfast things. I got a drink from a machine and made a reservation for the shuttle to take me to the airport. The woman at the desk said the trip took 10 to 15 minutes. I was surprised that we were that close.

I went back upstairs to find everyone still sleeping and asked if they wanted to get up. We had planned a trip to eat dim sum. When everyone was ready to go, Susan wanted to take Dora's picture. Dora was taking hers at the time. She is no bigger than a minute and full of fun. Susan was ready to go in the pink Dora shorts and

backpack. She also took Silvia's picture. I had to help a little with the camera. The breakfast/lunch was wonderful with a large variety of dishes. We went into a nearby grocery to get Garrett's sticky rice lunches. I got 14!

The plan for the day was to go shopping--a quilt store for me and the Lego store for the others. The quilt store was not far away; we were in Orange County somewhere. The shop was impressive and I enjoyed an hour there. Fei went to Barnes and Noble, and the others looked at fabric until Susan got tired. There was a children's play area with Legos, so they had fun playing. We drove south and west (I think) to get to Highway One on the coast. There are a lot of businesses and homes all along there. When we got to Anaheim, we turned east and looked for the Disneyland area. It is greatly changed from 1961.

The place we went was called Disneyland Downtown, a sort of shopping area. The Lego store probably had every known set. There were quite a few large pieces, including a 15-20' giraffe, Darth Vader and some other Star Wars figures, an Empire State Building. Susan and I had fun building with the Legos at the tables in the middle of the store with other children and adults. Silvia, Dora, and Fei bought several things. We were hungry when we came out. We had had bubble tea in the afternoon, but it hadn't stayed with us.

What is bubble tea? It is made with tapioca and a drink. The tapioca is dark colored and not as big as marbles, but larger than the food we are used to. You drink it with a large diameter straw. Dora had green tea with milk and flavoring. I had a peach smoothie. I can't remember Fei's. Silvia and Susan wanted water.

We had to pack. Silvia had brought Garrett some food in her suitcase: hot cereal he loves, dried fish, seaweed. She brought me a jeweled hang-up for the car mirror and a brayer for clay. The best thing she brought is called a digital picture frame. You load your pictures onto a compact flash disk or a memory card and insert it in the back of the frame. You plug it in, and the device shows a continuous slide show of pictures about 6" by 8". It is wonderful. I had sent most of Susan's things in the mail, but she had Legos and diapers to fit into her suitcase. It's a good thing I brought the little bag for Susan's clothes. They were going to Costco and somewhere else the next day, but would ship those things.

I had told them I would take the shuttle and had already arranged it, that it would take 10-15 minutes. They told me I was going to the wrong airport, John Wayne instead of LAX. They would take me, even though it was an hour away with good traffic.

Going to LA

It was time for Susan to go home to Taiwan. I had been saying for a couple of weeks that we are sending her things home and flying to LA to meet Mama. We packed most of her clothes in a small bag, but needed room in my suitcase for the milk, diapers, and a few other things like toys and things for the long trip. We kept out travel entertainment like the magic fingerpaint book and paints, a doll and bebe, and some clay for the backpacks. And of course, Susan's quilt and diapers for the trip had to be included. The new security rules made it impossible to carry juice, water, jellos, and most other foods. We did take chips and candy.

Garrett took us to the airport. It was very hard for him to say goodbye. He couldn't pass security, so he held her as long as possible. We put her in the stroller and started through the gate. She really didn't want to get out of the stroller or give up her quilt. The security officers and other passengers were very kind and accommodating for a screaming two-year old. We had to send our backpacks, shoes, and other carry-ons through. I didn't realize until later that we had my eyedrops and Susan's little bubble bottle in the packs. They didn't find the bubbles, but they did check out my drops.

When we got to the gate, we discovered the flight was delayed, so we had lots of time to waste. We went end to end several times with Susan pushing the stroller most of the time. She looked really cute in the Piglet outfit and backpack. She was pretty excited. We boarded early and got seats near the front. Susan looked out the windows and saw her suitcase being loaded. The flight to Albuquerque was a little bumpy, but we had fun looking at the clouds and the ground.

We had a light meal in the airport and were late to board because we didn't hear the announcement. Susan got the window again, but we were by the wing, so we couldn't see as well. The flight was good, but we ran out of things to do, or Susan was just tired of sitting still. I finally put her in my lap so we could sing and tell stories. She went to sleep for about 30 minutes, awaking just in time to land.

By the time we had collected our bags and found a place to sit, Dora and her husband Fei arrived. We sat to visit and play with Susan until about 7:30. Silvia was to come to a different terminal, so we loaded the car and moved to a different parking place. Then we waited...and waited...and waited, until nearly 10:30! Silvia's plane was on time, I think, but she had to collect her luggage and go through customs. Susan played with a small Chinese girl in a stroller and between the rows of seats. I was a little nervous about letting her move around much because there was a crowd of people waiting and lots of others with huge baggage. They couldn't always see around their bags to a small girl.

By the time Silvia came, I had put Susan in the stroller; she was tired. Silvia came around the corner, and when Susan saw her mother, they both broke into BIG smiles. Granma was toast. Susan was so happy to see Silvia that she wouldn't let go of her. We loaded the car and drove to a Thai restaurant about 45 minutes away. It was late, but we were hungry. Susan, Silvia, Dora, and I stayed at a LaQuinta near Dora's home. It was about 2 when we got to bed.

Packing boxes

We packed Susan's boxes and mailed them Friday. I mailed the clothes she can still wear (maybe not by the time she gets them), books from the library sale, some toys people have given her, the bottles she was using when she came, her cowgirl boots, her CDs and DVDs. It cost about $40 for each of the three boxes. It seemed easier to mail the stuff than try to carry it. It takes some time in the post office to fill out the paperwork. You have to know the contents, addresses, value, etc.

We were probably a sight going into the post office. I decided to let Susan walk and put the boxes plus one to Arlene and an envelope for Marylyn in the stroller for the trip in. They wouldn't all fit, so I had to carry one and let her push the stroller with a little help. Luckily some people came along and helped us.

Michele (Taiwan student) and Gian Carlo (Peruvian student) came for dinner last night. Michele is a teacher working on her master's here. Susan and Michele had lots of fun together exercising and coloring.

I have just discovered how much Susan likes soup. I guess I had just given her the wrong kinds before. It has been cold and rainy, so I made a rice, ham, and veggie soup for lunch. Then when we got to Los Insurgentes for dinner, Lluvia gave her soup made of chicken broth, rice, and chicken. She loved it!

Susan and Granpa like to play "soccer" with a soft green ball about 6" across. They throw and kick it. You should hear Susan say "I dot(got) it"and "Susan det it". They always play by the front door; there are fewer breakables there. One day last week she and I were outside working in the yard. She had the ball, and it kept rolling down the neighbors' drive to the street. I didn't get much done in the flowerbeds for chasing the ball. She had to have her feet on the grass while I was in the street. If she didn't stay there, I kept the ball a couple of minutes to remind her.

Bedtime

Susan is usually ready to go to sleep about 9. She has a bath in the paper tub (we used it to recycle newspapers) about 8. She brushes her teeth wrapped in her duck towel and sheds it to run around the house. I guess every child likes to do that at some time in her life. We put on a diaper and pajamas to get ready to sleep. She sits in Granpa's lap to drink her milk out of the sippee cup.

She doesn't like to have her hair washed, so we do something special. I can't get her to keep a dry towel over her face to keep the water off, and she doesn't like lying in my lap like Silvia showed me. It may be partly because she has grown so much. She is at least 2" taller than she was in May. After the struggle to rinse out the soap, I dry her hair and face if there is anything dry within reach and let her blow bubbles for a few minutes. She loves to do that.

When I take her to the bedroom with bebe and sometimes some stuffed animals, she is usually sleepy and can go off easily. I had been telling her the names of all the people who love her. Now she joins in with names, sometime of inanimate objects like bebe, milk, couch. I lie down on the bed next to her bed until she goes to sleep. If she would rather play in her bed for a while, I usually leave to go read my book or whatever I was doing.

We haven't been very successful with the potty training. I'm not sure Susan notices if she is wet. In the past few days I've tried using a sticker chart when she tells me and uses the potty. It sometimes works.

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

Tuesday is usually our day out. We go to the quilt shop and sew with the applique group. The first week, Susan went in the stroller and wouldn't get out. The next time we left it in the car and took some toys. She met one of my friends whose name is also Susan and took right to her. Susan spent some time learning a new song (This Little Light) and watching Susan B. sewing.

There are some magnetic shapes in bright colors on the front door. Susan likes to rearrange them. She also loves to feel the "Minkees" (a soft fabric) and the bears made of it. Every week we walk around and look at the designs on the bolts; there are animals and shapes, letters and colors to see. Maybe I'll make a quilter out of her.

Susan's favorite TV show is Dora the Explorer. Dora wears a back-pack with Dora's things to help in her adventures. I made Susan one with some blue Minkee scraps and some alphabet fabric. She has a map pocket and a star pocket and can carry a few toys.

Yesterday we had lunch at Frank's Bakery. Susan didn't care much for the quiche, but she liked the bread and salad. She had a pink meringue bird for dessert. We had a few errands to run and came home for a nap.

Susan and I did two new things Saturday. We made a stepping stone for the garden out of a kit from the craft store. It's made of cement and has colored glass stones and black rocks and Susan's name and '06. We had a great time doing it. We had been in the yard pulling weeds and playing with the wagon.

We also picked peaches at the neighbor's house next door. She is not able to get the high ones or anything that needs a ladder. I climbed the ladder and Susan got the low ones. Carolyn got the ones in between. We got half the peaches. They weren't ripe yet, but the birds were beginning to peck them. They can ripen on the washer.

We rushed in from our projects to talk to Silvia on the webcam. Susan is doing better about talking. I think she has gotten more comfortable with seeing her on the screen.

Bubbles

Susan loves to blow bubbles. She was given bubble soap and wands for her birthday. I try to keep it mostly in the bathroom. It's a special treat for hair- washing nights. That is not a fun experience, so the bubbles make it easier. One morning she blew bubbles for Silvia on the webcam so her mother could see how much fun it is.
Susan also likes to "help". She puts her clothes in the dirty clothes box and picks up toys--sometimes. When we take my sewing machine to quilting in its wheeled bag, she holds onto the front strap and pulls. She washes her hands in the bathtub (so I don't have to lift her).
Susan and I took Lucy to her physical therapy in Amarillo on Tuesday. We had about 1 1/2 hours, so we went to the mall. Susan rode in her stroller, and we visted the Disney store. She loved looking at all the stuffed animals. Afterwards we had a sandwich and smoothie in the food court.
Susan's favorite TV show is Dora the Explorer. Dora is a little girl with a friend Boots the monkey who has adventures and follows a map to explore. She wears a backpack that holds lots of useful stuff. I made Susan a Dora backpack. She puts her important things in there and can carry them around.

BeBe

Garrett washed Susan's quilt this morning. It was getting pretty dirty. We try substituting a piece of fabric with Dora the Explorer when she can't have Bebe. It's okay, but not the same. When he brought the real thing back a few minutes ago, we gave it some big sniffs, and she promptly fell asleep. She had been watching Sesame Street.

Here is our daily routine: Wake up between 6 and 9, milk, sometimes breakfast if she is hungry, play or go quilting, lunch about 11:45, nap 12:45 to 3 or so (sometimes less), snack, play or go to the library, fix dinner, eat, play, bath about 8, play, sit in Granpa's lap for milk, bed about 9. Sometimes we go to Amarillo to run errands. She likes to eat out for lunch. A few times we have

Pizza at Fazoli's
shared an ice cream at Braum's. That is her favorite thing to do. We go to the library a couple of times a week to get more videos. Our library has lots of Barney, Elmo, Dora, Rainbow Fish, and Little Bear. There are also a few Baby Einsteins. She watches a video when I cook and before bed.
Videos from the library
Susan's language skills are improving. She's making 3- to 4-word sentences: I'm coming, I sit in yellow chair, I do it, I put on Dora shoes. I can't always understand what she is saying, put she seems to understand most of what we say.

Ezrie's birthday

July 28th was Ezrie Camp's second birthday, and she had invited us to a watermelon party in an Amarillo park. We went on Saturday morning at 10. The kids had a great time playing on the playground: swinging, sliding, climbing, picking up rocks.

Cole and Jenn had bought three colors of melon: red, orange, yellow. They were all delicious, but I liked orange the best. When Susan and Ezrie got pieces, they cleaned them right down to the rind.

Last day at school

Log cabin on the playground at school
Mother's day out came to an end on Thursday, July 13. Susan was playing with JJ when I came to pick her up. I think she really enjoyed the time with the other kids. I know I liked the free time. I took her out to the playground for some pictures. Sifting rocks on the slide at school

Birthday Celebrations

Susan and Ezrie and
the cookie cake
Susan turned two last week, and we had three celebrations. We had invited 2 little girls whose birthdays are in July and some of Carl's friends. JJ and Rachel didn't come, but Ezrie, her parents, Allison, Carl, Kyle, and Lisa came. We had spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread, with a cake made of cookies and ice cream for dessert. The theme was Dora the Explorer.

We went to Bonnie and Alex Hunt's for dessert on Wednesday. To our surprise, they had gotten a cake with Happy Birthday, Susan on top. Poor Finn (their 2-month old baby) was having a bad night. We spent some time outside on their patio and went inside for cake and ice cream. The cake had red icing around the bottom. Susan stuck her finger in it for a taste.

Thursday night Carl came over for the third party. We had gotten a tiny cake at Walmart and ice cream . I think ice cream is her favorite food. She doesn't care for cake, but she loves ice cream. I think she had a fun week. In the icing again!

Susan at a wedding

We went to a wedding Saturday for a special friend, Gwynne LaBrie. Susan wore her pink dress and shoes. She looked really special. We sat near the front of the church so we could see well. Susan had paper and pencil to draw, but we left the toys at home. Shouldn't have. When Don Stribling was reading the scriptures, Susan "read" too. When we tried to shush her, she shushed even louder. It didn't seem to bother Don or anyone else.

I was helping with the reception, cutting cake. Susan had one of the little communion cups, plastic, and kept bringing it for more water. When the bride came in, Susan fed her mints. I think several pictures of her were taken; she was really cute. They gave bubbles instead of rice, so Susan loved blowing bubbles. Altogether, she had a wonderful time at the wedding.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

I'm more amazed every day to hear Susan talk and the things she says. She can carry on a conbersation now. Today my quilting group came over. She has been with them enough that she is comfortable with them and knows some of their names. When Betty came in, Susan said, "Ann is here." She talked to all of them and ate most of Janelle's orange again.

We went to a picnic yesterday at the Striblings. They built a house for the grandchildren to play in. It is darling, and Susan loved it. She also liked the small bridge you cross to get to the house. I think that Susan interacted with most of the people (about 20) at the party. She isn't as shy as she was when she came. Part of it is probably due to her ease with English.

Blondie

Watching Blondie eat
Poor kitty. She is banished to the back porch. While I was bathing Susan, she came into the bathroom to see what was going on. I got a whiff of her encounter with a skunk. I grabbed her and socked her into the tub. Susan got out of her tub and went to let Garrett dry her off while I soaped Blondie and dunked her into Susan's tub. I don't recall she has ever had a bath before, and she hates to be wet. I don't know how I escaped being bitten or scratched.

I told Susan to shut the bathroom door so the wet cat wouldn't escape. She smells better, but not completely de-skunked yet. I remember waking to the smell of a black and white visitor this morning about 5. Garrett said he had let her out a little before that. Poor Blondie. I wonder how long it takes for that odor to leave. I have Febrezed the place, but didn't spray the cat. It probably wouldn't hurt her, but I didn't know for sure.

Susan and I had lunch outside today. I had been watering the yard and garden, and she soaked herself by the faucet. We sat out under the tree and ate until her parents called to say they were on the web cam. After naps we went to the library for more videos. I'm tired of Dora the Explorer. We found Barney, Baby Mozart, Elmo, and Little Bear. Baby Mozart is part of the Baby Einstein series. The music and visuals are wonderful.

This place still smells skunky.

Wagon

Susan with wagon and tricycle and Rabbit

When we moved into this house, there was a Radio Super wagon, old and rusty, left here by some previous resident. I used it on the front porch to hold flower pots in the summer. The wheels hardly turned. Sat. morning when Susan and I were pulling weeds (she was mostly pulling off flowers), she discovered the wagon and wanted to pull it. I oiled it and moved it to the patio with the tricycle. She has pulled it all over the place and let me pull her a little. Yesterday she had Rabbit outside with her, but wouldn't put him in the wagon because it was "dirty". It had some dirt in it from the pots. We washed it, of course. She also tried to ride the trike, but it is really too big. I'm happy to say that we used repellent and were not bothered at all with mosquitoes as we had been earlier.

She sat with Garrett at church yesterday. He took her up for the children's sermon and then back to their seats. When the choir stood up for the anthem, he said she saw me for the first time and said "Granma". She went to the nursery afterwards.

She must have some allergies. Her nose has started running, and she has coughed as night. It doesn't seem to be a cold. If she doesn't get better this week, I'll have to take her to Dr. Shum.

Susan loves to go to the mailbox every day. We have a race to get back to the house.

Snow cones

Susan went to "school" again this week. They made and ate snow cones. The teachers said she loved it. What I know is that she came home covered with blue juice and a snow cone made of a styrofoam ball colored yellow, a paper cone, and a straw. She cries when I leave her, but is happy soon. This is Rachel Johnson's daughter Jillian with Susan the day they had snow cones. JJ had pink and Susan had blue. Susan and Jillian

Last night Michelle (Taiwan student) and GianCarlo (boyfriend from Peru) came to eat hamburgers. Susan was slow to get acquainted, but then was happy to talk and play with them, especially Michelle. Michelle is a first grade teacher here working on a Master's in Education. GC is working on an MBA in finance. Michelle got in on the bath and toothbrushing. She thinks Susan is very smart and mature for her age. Susan hadn't taken much of a nap, so she went to sleep about 9.

When we went to Tammy's this week to sew on Wednesday, Susan found a pet she loved. I don't know if she ever touched Harry Rabbit, but she fed him some carrots and watched him closely. We will have to go back by sometime so she can see Harry again.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Susan went to Santa Fe with Carl and Grandma to see Matina. Matina is Carl's cousin and Grandma's niece, and she is at a seminar for a month in New Mexico. It was a long drive, but we stopped to rest and stretch our legs. We also had food to eat and cold water to drink. We checked into the motel about 5:30 and went to get Matina.
Carl and Matina at White Rock overlook
Her school was way across town, and we made a few wrong turns getting there. She looks very much like her mother, but like herself too. We four went to dinner at Coyote Cantina. It is a rooftop restaurant downtown with delicious food. Afterwards we got the stroller and walked around about an hour.

Saturday we all had breakfast at the Cloudcliff Bakery. It was so sunny we decided to eat indoors. Susan especially liked the watermelon and a biscuit. Actually she didn't eat much bread, just licked the jelly off and held it out for more. I ordered 2 hard boiled eggs for Susan and me. They have no real idea what that is. I opened the first and sent the second back for another 5 minutes.

We had decided to check out some of the pueblos. I wanted to go to Chimayo to the weaving shop. Matina wanted to see some pottery. Carl didn't seem to care so long as we were all together. We didn't ask Susan. We drove through the Tesuque reservation, but didn't find anywhere to stop. In Chimayo we visited a chapel were there is supposed to be miraculous dirt. Actually we only walked around the grounds which were interesting. Susan wanted to feel all the flowers. We drove on past the restaurant and found the weaving shop. We were able to watch a weaver for a while. Susan chose a purple rug for her mother, and Matina found one with birds. There were lots of weaving shops in that area.

We drove on to the Santa Clara pueblo and stopped at a house to see some pottery. Susan was tired, so I took her outside to see the hummingbirds at a
Santuario de Chimayo
feeder while Matina looked at the pottery and pictures of the process. We found a place for ice cream and cold drinks.

We drove into the mountains on the west side of I25 north of Santa Fe. One thing we saw was a huge radio telescope that turned out to be part of the Los Alamos National Labs. We drove to a place called White Rock that we all agreed was a super view. It was getting hot outside. We felt a little cooler looking at the waterfalls. White Rock overlook

Bandelier was our last stop. I remember going there as a kid about 12. It's the place where Anasazi Indians build their pueblo. We walked up the hiking path as far as the kiva.

School

Susan went to "school" Thursday for the first time. She went to Mother's Day Out at the Methodist Church. We had to take diapers, another set of clothes, bebe, Rabbit, lunch, a snack, water, formula. I was exhausted by the time I got her ready!
We had already visited the room, but it was empty at the time. Filled with adults and children, it was scary. She has a basket in the hall for all her stuff. Bebe had to go in with her. She was crying when I left.
When I went back at 3:30, Susan was smiling and playing with the other children. She had played outside, made something for Papa for Father's Day, eaten lunch, napped, and played some more. I think she had a very good day.

Drawing with Apa

It's hard to believe Susan has been here two weeks already. She understands a lot of things we say, but doesn't carry on a conversation yet. We talked to her parents this morning, but she was sleepy because she had just waked up. I'm afraid it wasn't very satisfactory for them. She is standing in the blocks can now and watching Sesame Street.

She and Garrett love to draw together. He kept her twice over the weekend while I helped give a shower for a friend's daughter. I think they had a very good time, but he was tired when I got home.

Susan went with me to quilt Tuesday and Wednesday. She was overwhelmed at the quilt shop; too many people and too big. Wed. we went Patty's house. She had fun there. It was a home and fewer people. We went to Walmart and she chose a doll. I'll take a picture of them together. We also got 2 Sippee Cups and more diapers.

Saturday night the three of us went to the library; Susan picked out a ladybug book that has ladybugs to count. Afterwards we ate at Los Insurgentes. She was really hungry and had chips, chicken, rice, and flan. By the time we got to the grocery, we were all getting tired, but on the way home she told me she wanted to use the potty. It worked! It hasn't since.

Susan and Jillian were the center of attention during the children's sermon. Don asked the other kids what children need and how they can help them grow up. They had some good ideas. In the evening we went to the park again, but the mosquitoes bit through our repellent, so we went home soon to wash the repellent and the bites in the shower.

She's here!

Susan has been here for a week. She, Garrett, and Silvia arrived about 7:45 Sunday on the plane from Houston. Silvia was very tired.

We had a great week together. Garrett didn't go to school Monday and Tuesday, so we stayed home most of the time. Carl came over Memorial Day for dinner. I had intended to cook the chicken outside, but the fire wouldn't stay lit, so I had to use the oven. We had barbecued chicken quarters, slaw, and rice. There were plenty of leftovers. Afterwards we went to Dreamland to see the jackrabbits. Susan had a fit about the car seat. She isn't used to sitting in one. However, we found out later the harness was too tight. When we loosened it, she was fine.

Wednesday we went to Don Phang and an Asian supermarket and Sams. Silvia wanted vitamins to take home. Susan made a big hit at Los Insurgentes. Lluvia was there with her children. Susan called Bentley "gugu" and he was a bit offended until Silvia said it meant brother. Then he was okay with it and squirted her with water. She loved it.

Thursday we had the chicken again, and Carl came. Susan really likes him. She ate most of his yogurt. The best thing was watching her use tongs to pick up the French fries. After she had watched some of us use them, she picked them up and did it herself. It was amazing in a child so young. She eats ramen noodles from a plate with chopsticks too.

Friday morning we had to make a visit to Dr. Shum to get Susan's checkup and innoculations--four of them! No wonder she cried. She is doing well and weighs about 26 lb. The nurse measured her at 35", but she isn't that tall. Dr. Shum said she should about double her present height and weight at 21.
We also made a quick trip to Sam's again. Silvia had intended that Susan would be asleep when she went to the airport. It didn't work that way, so we all went. Susan wasn't happy to say goodby, but was okay later.
The shots made her feel bad, so I gave her some Tylenol. She slept well and didn't wake until after 8, about 10 hours.

We had dinner at Chilis. Susan loved her fries, but wasn't too crazy about the chicken. It was breaded. I didn't much like it either. She did eat my rice sticks and carrots, Carl's bacon and burger, and Garrett's celery, so she had plenty to eat.
She has asked for her bottle today, at the right times, but has not taken the milk. She just used it to hold before sleeping. She slept all night in her bed. I moved it over next to me, so she could see me if she woke.

Today we took Susan to church. It was Pentecost Sunday. Garrett read the scripture in German, I read in French, Laura read English, Edgar, Spanish, and Cloyce, Italian. It was quite neat. Afterwards, Susan went to the nursery where they said she did very well.
Susan and I walked to the park (stroller) to play on the playground. I took a few short videos. I will add pictures to this narrative tomorrow. It is late.
