Last day at school

Log cabin on the playground at school
Mother's day out came to an end on Thursday, July 13. Susan was playing with JJ when I came to pick her up. I think she really enjoyed the time with the other kids. I know I liked the free time. I took her out to the playground for some pictures. Sifting rocks on the slide at school

Birthday Celebrations

Susan and Ezrie and
the cookie cake
Susan turned two last week, and we had three celebrations. We had invited 2 little girls whose birthdays are in July and some of Carl's friends. JJ and Rachel didn't come, but Ezrie, her parents, Allison, Carl, Kyle, and Lisa came. We had spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread, with a cake made of cookies and ice cream for dessert. The theme was Dora the Explorer.

We went to Bonnie and Alex Hunt's for dessert on Wednesday. To our surprise, they had gotten a cake with Happy Birthday, Susan on top. Poor Finn (their 2-month old baby) was having a bad night. We spent some time outside on their patio and went inside for cake and ice cream. The cake had red icing around the bottom. Susan stuck her finger in it for a taste.

Thursday night Carl came over for the third party. We had gotten a tiny cake at Walmart and ice cream . I think ice cream is her favorite food. She doesn't care for cake, but she loves ice cream. I think she had a fun week. In the icing again!

Susan at a wedding

We went to a wedding Saturday for a special friend, Gwynne LaBrie. Susan wore her pink dress and shoes. She looked really special. We sat near the front of the church so we could see well. Susan had paper and pencil to draw, but we left the toys at home. Shouldn't have. When Don Stribling was reading the scriptures, Susan "read" too. When we tried to shush her, she shushed even louder. It didn't seem to bother Don or anyone else.

I was helping with the reception, cutting cake. Susan had one of the little communion cups, plastic, and kept bringing it for more water. When the bride came in, Susan fed her mints. I think several pictures of her were taken; she was really cute. They gave bubbles instead of rice, so Susan loved blowing bubbles. Altogether, she had a wonderful time at the wedding.

I'm more amazed every day to hear Susan talk and the things she says. She can carry on a conbersation now. Today my quilting group came over. She has been with them enough that she is comfortable with them and knows some of their names. When Betty came in, Susan said, "Ann is here." She talked to all of them and ate most of Janelle's orange again.

We went to a picnic yesterday at the Striblings. They built a house for the grandchildren to play in. It is darling, and Susan loved it. She also liked the small bridge you cross to get to the house. I think that Susan interacted with most of the people (about 20) at the party. She isn't as shy as she was when she came. Part of it is probably due to her ease with English.
